The DOL reported:
Throughout the week ending March 18, the advance decide for seasonally adjusted preliminary claims was 258,00zero, an increase of 15,00zero from the sooner week's revised diploma. The sooner week's diploma was revised up by 2,00zero from 241,00zero to 243,00zero. The 4-week transferring frequent was 240,00zero, an increase of 1,00zero from the sooner week's revised frequent. The sooner week's frequent was revised up by 1,750 from 237,250 to 239,00zero.
The sooner week was revised up.

This was above the consensus forecast.
The low diploma of claims suggests comparatively few layoffs.
